ABOUT CELC, THE FEDERATING AUTHORITY OF THE FLAX/LINEN AGROINDUSTRY IN THE WORLD

The European Confederation of Flax and Hemp (CELC) is the only European agro-industrial organisation federating all the stages of production and transformation of flax and hemp. Founded in 1951, It is the privileged spokesperson for 10,000 European enterprises across 14 countries, overseeing fibre development from plant to finished product. The only European organisation of reference, CELC encourages dialogue with national and European public authorities. As a think tank and place of market analysis, dialogue and strategic orientation, CELC presides over an industry of excellence in a globalised context.

This mission is guaranteed by EUROPEAN FLAX®, the traceability certification of premium-quality flax fibre sustainably grown in Western Europe, for all its applications with each transformation stage audited by third party Bureau Veritas. This traceability, when each processing step is performed by European companies until yarn and fabric, is certified as MASTERS OF LINEN®, a registered trademark and a club of textile excellence.

CELC creates an environment conducive to industrial enterprise competitiveness following a three-pronged approach comprising information, defence and promotion. This internationally-focused multichannel strategy stimulates innovation and builds on the performance of natural fibres with proven environmental qualities. A corpus of actions facilitated, produced and promoted by its dedicated platform CELC Développement.
